Part 2 Outpatient Facility Types

ANSI/ASHRAE/ASHE Standard 170-2017 Ventilation of Health Care Facilities

This chapter shall apply to the outpatient imaging facility that is separate from an acute care hospital.
A2.3-1.1.1 This facility is an outpatient imaging center that is capable of accommodating a wide array of diagnostic services and imaging-supported procedures; see Table 2.1-5 (Classification of Room Types for Imaging Services) for details. These facilities can specialize in only one imaging service or provide a mix of services.
The outpatient imaging facility shall meet the standards described in this chapter and the standards in Part 1 of these Guidelines.
Requirements in Chapter 2.1, Common Elements for Outpatient Facilities, shall apply to the outpatient imaging facility as cross-referenced in this chapter.
See Section 2.1-2 (Accommodations for Care of Patients of Size) for requirements.
Where any facilities described in Section 2.1-3 (Patient Care and Diagnostic Areas) are included in an outpatient imaging facility, the requirements in Section 2.1-3 shall apply.
The requirements for imaging facilities in Section 2.1-3.5 (Imaging Services), including support areas, shall be met for the imaging modalities employed in the outpatient imaging facility.
Where laboratory services are provided in the outpatient imaging facility, see Section 2.1-4.1 (Laboratory Services) for requirements.
Where pharmacy services are provided in the outpatient imaging facility, see Section 2.1-4.2 (Pharmacy Services) for requirements.
Where sterile processing is performed in the outpatient imaging facility, see Section 2.1-4.3 (Sterile Processing) for requirements.
Where linen is processed on-site, see Section 2.1-4.4.2 (On-Site Linen Processing Area) for requirements.
Where linen is processed off-site, see Section 2.1-4.4.3 (Support Areas for Outpatient Facilities Using Off-Site Laundry Services) for requirements.
For materials management requirements, see Section 2.1-5.1 (Materials Management).
For waste collection and storage facility requirements, see Section 2.1-5.2 (Waste Management).
See Section 2.1-5.3 (Environmental Services) for environmental services room requirements in addition to those in this section.
An environmental services room shall be provided readily accessible to the imaging suite.
Sharing of the environmental services room with other medical services shall be permitted.
For engineering and maintenance service requirements, see Section 2.1-5.4 (Engineering and Maintenance Services).
The requirements set forth in 2.1-6 (Public and Administrative Areas) shall apply to the outpatient imaging facility.
The requirements set forth in 2.1-7 (Design and Construction Requirements) shall apply to the outpatient imaging facility.
The requirements set forth in Section 2.1-8 (Building Systems) shall apply to the outpatient imaging facility.
