Chapter 14 Individual Subsurface Sewage Disposal Systems

Where no public sewerage system is available for a single property, an individual sewage disposal system shall be provided for the property in accordance with requirements of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act.

A house trap will not be required where the main sanitary house drain is connected to an individual on-site subsurface sewage disposal system.

When a privy vault, septic tank, or loose well is abandoned, the entire contents shall be removed to a depth of 10 feet, and shall be filled with earth, ashes, or cinders to finish grade.
