27.1* General

Amendment
This section has been amended by the state, county, or city.
A sprinkler system installed in accordance with this standard shall be properly inspected, tested, and maintained in accordance with NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems and the New York City Fire Code, to provide at least the same level of performance and protection as designed.
Where all or part of an inactive sprinkler system is abandoned in place, components including sprinklers, hose valves and hoses, and alarm devices shall be removed.
Control valves abandoned in place shall have the operating mechanisms removed.
Sprinkler system piping and/or valves abandoned in place shall be uniquely identified to differentiate them from active system piping and valves.
