1231.3.1 Toilets/Urinals

- Toilets/urinals must be provided in single-occupancy cells and double-occupancy cells.
- In dormitories, toilets/urinals must be provided in a ratio to inmates of 1:10.
- Toilets/urinals must be accessible to the occupants of day-rooms and exercise areas.
- In temporary holding cells and temporary staging cells toilets/urinals must be provided in a ratio to inmates of 1:16.
- In sobering cells toilets/urinals must be provided in a ratio to inmates of 1:8.
- One urinal or 2 feet (610 mm) of urinal trough may be substituted for each toilet up to one third of the total number of toilets required, except in those facilities or portions thereof used for females.
- Toilet areas shall provide modesty for inmates with staff being able to visually supervise.
