111.1.1 New Residential Buildings

A residential building or structure erected shall not be used or occupied, in whole or in part, until the certificate of occupancy has been issued by the residential building official. Occupancy of spaces within a residential building which are unaffected by the work shall be allowed to continue if the residential building official determines the existing spaces can be occupied safely until the completion of the work.
