1613.7.1 Masonry Structures

For structures adjacent to existing unreinforced masonry bearing wall structures, the structural separation shall be filled with a material with a minimum compressive strength of 25 psi (172.37 kPa) and a maximum compressive strength of 100 psi (689.74 kPa). Additionally, when the adjacent wall is a party wall, the party wall shall be made secure by the party responsible for the new construction as per Chapter 33.
