Where provided, escalators shall comply with the sections 18.104.22.168.6 and 22.214.171.124.5 of ASME A17.1 (incorporated by reference, see "Referenced Standards" in Chapter 1) and shall have a clear width of 32 inches (815 mm) minimum.
EXCEPTION: Existing escalators in key stations shall not be required to comply with 810.9.
