DSA has no authority under the Act to order the closing of any school building. However, if requested by the school district or on DSA's own volition, DSA shall examine and report on the safety of structural aspects of any school building that appear to be deficient. The report shall state in writing to the school board whether or not the investigated structural aspects of the building are in compliance with the code in effect at the time of construction, and shall also state whether or not the building is safe for school use.
