918.5 Combustible Material Adjacent to Cooking Top
JUMP TO FULL CODE CHAPTER
A portion of combustible material adjacent to a cooking top section
of a food service range, even though listed for close-to-wall
installation, that is not shielded from the wall by a high
shelf, warming closet, and so on, shall be protected as specified
in Section 918.2 for a distance of not less than 2 feet (610
mm) above the surface of the cooking top. [NFPA 54:10.12.5]
