5.4.5.2 Chassis Construction

Inclined elevator chassis shall be constructed of metal, except for guiding members. Chassis shall have a factor of safety not less than 5, based on the rated load. The chassis-guiding members shall be retained and/or enclosed in guides or tracks in such a manner that the chassis cannot be derailed.
