R602.10.1.3 Angled Corners
At corners, braced wall lines shall be permitted to angle out of plane up to 45 degrees with a maximum diagonal length of 8 feet (2438 mm). When determining the length of bracing required, the length of each braced wall line shall be determined as shown in Figure R602.10.1.3. The placement of bracing for the braced wall lines shall begin at the point where the braced wall line, which contains the angled wall adjoins the adjacent braced wall line (Point A as shown in Figure R602.10.1.3). Where an angled corner is constructed at an angle equal to 45 degrees (0.79 rad) and the diagonal length is no more than 8 feet (2438 mm), the angled wall may be considered as part of either of the adjoining braced wall lines, but not both. Where the diagonal length is greater than 8 feet (2438 mm), it shall be considered its own braced wall line and be braced in accordance with Section R602.10.1 and methods in Section R602.10.2.
For SI: 1 foot = 304.8 mm.
