(B) Aluminum and Copper-Clad Aluminum Conductors

Equipment grounding conductors of bare, covered, or insulated aluminum or copper-clad aluminum shall comply with the following:
- Unless part of a suitable Chapter 3 cable wiring method, bare or covered conductors shall not be installed where subject to corrosive conditions or be installed in direct contact with concrete, masonry, or the earth.
- Terminations made within outdoor enclosures that are listed and identified for the environment shall be permitted within 450 mm (18 in.) of the bottom of the enclosure.
- Aluminum or copper-clad aluminum conductors external to buildings or enclosures shall not be terminated within 450 mm (18 in.) of the earth, unless terminated within a listed wire connector system.
