Residential Code 2018 of Kansas > 4 Foundations > R404 Foundation and Retaining Walls > R404.1 Concrete and Masonry Foundation Walls > R404.1.3 Concrete Foundation Walls > R404.1.3.3 Concrete, Materials for Concrete, and Forms > R404.1.3.3.7 Reinforcement > R404.1.3.3.7.6 Alternate Grade of Reinforcement and Spacing
JUMP TO FULL CODE CHAPTER
Where tables in Section R404.1.3.2 specify vertical wall reinforcement based on minimum bar size and maximum spacing, which are based on Grade 60 (414 MPa) steel reinforcement, different size bars or bars made from a different grade of steel are permitted provided that an equivalent area of steel per linear foot of wall is provided. Use of Table R404.1.2(9) is permitted to determine the maximum bar spacing for different bar sizes than specified in the tables or bars made from a different grade of steel. Bars shall not be spaced less than one-half the wall thickness, or more than 48 inches (1219 mm) on center.
