The Maryland Building Performance Standards incorporates by reference the 2018 IBC, 2018 IRC, 2018 IECC, and the 2012 IGCC.

The Maryland Model Performance Code incorporates by reference the 2018 IBC which is incorporated by reference in COMAR, 2018 IPC, NEC 2017 (NFPA 70), 2018 IRC which is incorporated by reference in COMAR, 2018 IMC, 2018 IECC which is incorporated by reference in COMAR, and the 2012 IGCC.

The Maryland Model Performance Code may not be binding upon any subdivision of the State unless the subdivision adopts the Model Performance Code, by law, ordinance, or resolution of its governing body referring to the Model Performance Code.

Maryland Building Codes

The building codes of Maryland adopt the the International Building Code 2021 (IBC 2021), International Residential Code 2021 (IRC 2021), International Plumbing Code 2021 (IPC 2021), International Mechanical Code 2021 (IMC 2021), International Energy Conservation Code 2021 (IECC 2021), and the National Electrical Code, 2020.
